A question, a bug, an idea:thomasraynal.pro@icloud.com

Uptick is written by one person. I read everything and answer when I can — and I would rather promise nothing about timing than promise wrong.

From the app: Settings → at the very bottom,Write an email. The message carries the app version and your iPhone model, which saves three round trips. Your income is never in it.

Frequently asked

How is the counter worked out?

From three things: your income, your hours, and your working days. The day’s amount is your daily income times the fraction of the day elapsed. On a monthly salary, the month is spread across its working days. Nothing is estimated or quietly rounded — it is arithmetic, and you can check it on screen.

Why doesn’t the widget move every second?

Because no iOS widget can, and it isn’t a flaw in Uptick. A widget isn’t drawn by the app: the system asks for a series of snapshots in advance, then shows them once the app has stopped running. The only things it can refresh by itself are a clock and a progress bar — never an amount.

So the widget shows the right value, but in steps. For a counter that really moves by the second, look at the Lock Screen.

How does the Lock Screen counter work?

In Settings, the Track in the background button asks iOS to let the app keep computing once the phone is away. The amount then appears on the Lock Screen and the Dynamic Island, climbing by the second.

What the system imposes, and is worth knowing:

Does my data go anywhere?

By default, your income is not sent. What is sent is which screens you open and which options you touch, anonymously, so I know what to improve. Not the amount, not your hours, not the names of your units: in the code, those values have no path to that channel, and an automated test checks it.

A second setting, off out of the box, additionally sends your real settings — income, hours, units you created — if you want to help me understand who I am writing this app for. Nothing in the app depends on it, and both switch off inSettings → Improving the app. The detail is on theprivacy page.

How do I erase everything?

Delete the app. Everything it keeps lives in its private storage on the iPhone, and goes with it.

Which languages?

The app follows your iPhone’s language, and can also be switched by hand inSettings. If a phrase sounds wrong in yours, tell me: that is exactly the kind of feedback that helps.

Which devices?

iPhone, on iOS 26 or later. The Lock Screen counter needs iOS 26; the Dynamic Island needs an iPhone that has one.
